Lydia Ainscough
Co founder and Director Each of my classes strive to provide a balance of strength and fluidity, stillness and movement, breath and alignment. I have been practising yoga for over 12 years and teaching yoga for 6 of those years, my practice evolves over time which I'm sure is reflected in my teaching. My journey started with a deck of yoga cards called the yoga deck, I took them travelling when I was 19 and I would explore the range of postures, breathing exercises and meditation practices displayed on the cards. It was when living in Canada, and my short time in London which were my main two influences to become a Yoga teacher. Doing an internship for monocle magazine in London 2011 made me realise that no matter how glamorous or trendy the office, an office is an office and it's not for me. Every day I left that office I ventured across London to Dylan Ayaloo's hot yoga classes, they were strong, powerful and made me connect to a much deeper sense of self.
It was a few years later when living in Whistler, Canada that I met Natalie Rousseau, a life changing woman for sure. Once I went to her Yoga class, I felt I understood the practice on a whole new level and she left me with a thirst to learn more and more, read, practice daily and save up for my initial teacher training with her. |
Life changes us in a myriad of ways, pregnancy, motherhood, a change of direction, a change of perspective. We are ever changing beings and for me it is important to honour that and stay authentic to my practice and what I offer in my classes.
I practice yoga in a variety of ways, more recently in my daily meditation practice, and with a daily mantra ~
be gentle, patient, and persistent this helps me to take yoga off the mat and continue to fathom the new balance of motherhood, family life, friendships, self study, teaching yoga and running a yoga studio.
I aim to share yoga from the heart, from a place of passion and authenticity. In my classes you can expect a slowing down, a coming home to the breath into a space of stillness and inner reflection before moving towards a strong and steady paced class aiming to cultivate grace and inner strength.

Yoga is a beautifully rich subject and there is always more to learn and delve into. I am honoured to call myself a teacher as I will also always remain a student; endlessly grateful for the lessons I learn from both my students and the inspiring teachers I meet along the way.
