This course is suitable for ladies during the second and third trimester. 12 weeks onwards.
The pelvic floor and pregnancy:
What happens to the pelvic floor during pregnancy?
During the process of pregnancy our pelvic floor muscles soften and weaken helping this area stretch for the natural process of birth. When extra pressure is put on to the pelvic floor (e.g coughing, laughing, sneezing) urine may pass involuntarily because of a more relaxed pelvic floor. Carrying the pregnancy naturally weakens the pelvic floor muscles, it is necessary for the birth process and because of this it's important for all women to incorporate some form of pelvic floor exercise during and after pregnancy.
How can yoga and pelvic floor exercises help during pregnancy?
In this course you will learn techniques to help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Although it is important to strengthen the pelvic floor you will also learn the important of learning how to fully release the pelvic floor. It is important throughout pregnancy to encourage these muscles to work optimally in both functions. We strengthen for stabilisation and support of the pelvic area and we release to experience optimal opening during the natural process of birth. Baby's are born on the exhalation, so in pregnancy yoga we learn how to contract our pelvic floor muscles on the inhale and how to release on the exhale. Although this can feel different to many yoga practices, it can be a powerfully beneficial practice for birth preparation.
Investment: £42 for the full course | 4 weeks including access to pre-recorded classes and meditation audio links.
